AC Power Regulator Circuit Operation
Shenlian Diyang R1 only needs to stabilize the load; industrial power conditioner compensates for any difference between the operating voltage of the diode and the unregulated input voltage. The value of the series resistor depends on the combined current of the Zener diode and the load. When selecting the Zener resistor, the following factors are typically considered: the minimum input voltage (unregulated), the maximum load current, the minimum Zener diode current, and (understanding diode characteristics) the maximum voltage generated across the Zener diode and its parallel load resistor. Once the value of the series resistor RI is determined, the maximum power dissipation of the diode (for RI) can be determined by considering the maximum input voltage (unregulated), the minimum load current, and the minimum voltage generated across the diode (using the established series resistor value). For stable operation, the Zener diode must operate such that its reverse current falls within the minimum and maximum rated values of the specified voltage. It is worth noting that under no-load conditions, the Zener diode must dissipate all output power.
If the input voltage of the electrical power conditioner circuit decreases, the voltage across Zener diode D will drop, and the current through the diode will immediately decrease. Therefore, the total current flowing through the series resistor R1 decreases, and the voltage across R1 decreases proportionally, so that for all practical purposes, the output voltage across the load resistor (and Zener diode) remains the same. Conversely, if the input voltage of the regulator circuit increases, the voltage across the Zener diode increases, and the current through the diode immediately increases. Therefore, the total current through the series resistor R1 increases, and the voltage RI across it increases proportionally, so for all practical purposes, the output voltage across the load resistor (and Zener diode) remains the same.
If the current drawn from the load resistor decreases or increases, the total current drawn from the input source does not change. Conversely, the current through the Zener diode will change accordingly, while the current drawn from the source remains constant, so the single phase power conditioner across the load resistor remains constant.
