Harmonic Filter Design Methods In Industrial Power Systems
In modern power systems, most nonlinear loads introduce harmonic components, affecting overall power quality. The power harmonic filter can employ a specially tuned arrangement of inductors and capacitors, connected in series to form a low-pass response, which is used to suppress harmonics at specific frequencies. This configuration relies on the natural response of passive components such as inductors and capacitors to specific harmonic frequencies without the need for additional power supply.
While harmonic filters lack real-time adjustment capabilities, their stable structure and mature components make them more suitable for industrial scenarios with relatively fixed load characteristics. In power grids or larger electrical equipment cabinets, the configuration of series low-pass filter networks often considers compatibility with main busbars, circuit breakers, and other protection devices to ensure the overall design meets voltage, current, and system standard requirements.
